Tour “Kyrgyzstan – the country of Tien-Shan” gives a great opportunity to get involved in the culture and daily life in Kyrgyzstan. You will see the life of the nomads and feel yourself nomad.
During the tour you will visit two great lakes of Kyrgyzstan – Issyk Kul and Son Kul.
Issyk Kul is an endorheic lake in the northern Tian Shan mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan. It is the tenth-largest lake in the world by volume (though not in surface area), and the second-largest saline lake after the Caspian Sea. Issyk-Kul means "warm lake" in the Kyrgyz language; although it is surrounded by snow-capped peaks, it never freezes.
Song Kul is an alpine lake in northern Naryn Province, Kyrgyzstan. It lies at an altitude of 3016 m. It is the second-largest lake after Issyk Kul Lake, and the largest freshwater lake in Kyrgyzstan. Its name, meaning "following lake", is popularly considered to refer to this relation. It is surrounded by a broad summer pasture and then mountains. Its beauty is greatly praised, but it is rather inaccessible. There are no facilities on the lake, but local herders will provide supplies and rent yurts. The area is inhabited and safely accessible only from June to September.
Both valleys had always attracted lots of people living around. There were found ancient cities at the Issyk-Kul Lake. Most of them are submerged. Part of Great Silk Road laid along the Issyk-Kul valley and further over the passes of Terskey Ala-Too and Bedel pass to China. It was a quite important part of the caravan path.
